Dealing with the pain of grief

Although hard to hear and believe when you are in the midst of it, pain has the potential to make you grow to the heights of your ability. However, to do this, you have to go through the grief or pain.

The poem below talks about the rigor required to carry on after suffering, to trust that in your deepest and darkest hours, no matter what occurs, you can still lift your heart, towards heaven..

An inspirational poem

Refuse to fall down

If you cannot refuse to fall down, refuse to stay down. If you cannot refuse to stay down lift your heart toward heaven and like a hungry beggar, ask that it be filled, and it will be filled. You may be pushed down. You may be kept from rising. But no one can keep you from lifting your heart toward heaven — only you. It is in the midst of misery that so much becomes clear. The one who says nothing good came of this, is not yet listening.

– Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Life asks of you to not give up and indeed to refuse to stay down. To open your heart to hear what pain has to teach you about life/yourself.

To be able to do the above you often need to let go your thoughts/perceptions about pain, for example that pain is bad, that you shouldn’t feel it, that you’re weak if you feel pain, or cry etc..

Here are some pearls of wisdom that have helped me during my moments of suffering. I'd love to hear yours.
